A little dark but fun
January 11, 2013

I really don't understand all the negative reviews for this game......Yes, the scenes are a little dark, but not so where I couldn't find anything......It's an older HO but I found it fun and relaxing......A nice change from the more complicated games ......Story line is weak but I just followed along and played the game.....I didn't have any trouble clicking on the objects and the hint button was very helpful....All in all a good old fashioned HO and I enjoyed playing it....

Good for beginners!

I didn't enjoy this game, was slow and didn't have much of a story line. The HOSs and puzzles were pretty straightforward and, again, better suited for someone who is trying this type of game experience as a newbie. For those folks you may be able to gain some knowledge of basics for tougher games. This would be a good game for him/her. Graphics were okay as well as sound. I would not recommend for intermediate or expert players. Do recommend for the newcomer.

Interesting HOG for everyone

Sometimes I like games that are just relaxing and ordinary. I liked the game. I'll wait until it is $2.99 to buy, but I probably will. So sorry that most of you did not like it; I am easier to please! Thanks!

New Version of Mystical Island is Great!
January 13, 2013

I'm giving this game five stars partly to make up for the bad reviews of what must have been a previous version. The version I am playing has none of the problems mentioned in previous reviews---except somewhat slow loading, which might have cost it a star except that the art is so beautiful and detailed that it is worth waiting for. Unlike some games where the art of ancient cultures is mixed and misrepresented with abandon, this game has adapted ancient Mayan art in a beautiful, authentic-looking way---and doesn't mix in other cultures. There is a lot of art of different cultures in hidden object scenes where they represent either modern decorative items, smuggled masterpieces, or pirate treasure. So that makes sense. There is plenty of story line, and I find it interesting and original. I have noticed no typos so far, and I'm a picky editor. The puzzles are interesting variations on classics, so they seem new. I'm guessing the developers took to heart all the negative reviews and made major changes in the game to fix the problems. I'm glad I decided to try the game for myself. Thanks, Big Fish, for putting it on sale. That got my attention, and after I tried it, I immediately bought it. So if you are thinking of trying this game, do not be discouraged by the earlier bad reviews. This is NOT the version the earlier reviewers were complaining about. I'm not sure why people complain about British English anyway. But in any case, after the first few scenes, the objects to be found are presented by grayish drawings---even more information than a silhouette. So language ceases to be any kind of problem. I think this is a very enjoyable game, and I'm glad I found it.

Not the WORST game ever!

After reading the very negative reviews, I just had to try this game. I played the demo - not sure I'll buy, but here's what I thought. The graphics are exquisite. Beautiful settings with great detail and design. They just don't change very often. In all that beautiful design, I found the HOS generally pretty difficult. Lots of small objects some of which were very hard to find. In exchange you get a very rapidly renewing hint button and no misclick penalty. The puzzles were mostly easy, a relief from how difficult the HOS are. The music got on my nerves after the first 10 minutes. But overall, I had a good time, and was really wondering where the story would turn next when my time ran out.

POORLY MADE GAME

You are found on an island with amnesia. Good basis for a story right? Not in this game! PROS: Good story line Graphics are ok Options menu is ok CONS: Spelling and grammar are terrible Misnamed items in hidden object scenes No skip on mini games/puzzles Very little instruction on any of it.

Remedial but Relaxing
January 10, 2013

I liked this game - it is remedial and simple I just skipped the text conversations, after a stressful day at work this was a very relaxing game and I did like it - it is simple and children can play it too - they love to find the objects and they are easy to find. Again, for some reason this was very relaxing and I liked it.
