This was an enjoyable game. It is a time management building game so if you enjoy that type, you will find this one a great purchase.
NEVOSOFT once again does not fail to produce another winner... this light hearted TM which is as apt to please a younger gamer as it does an older [kid at heart] gamer. Abigail and the Kingdom of Fairs brings us gaming magic in the form of a building strategy quest to rebuild little town fairs [occasionally plagued by monsters] in order to bring money and order to mythical town folk and a 'ticket' [so to speak] back home for our adventurer [you/Abigail]. Lots to learn and do.... a fun diversion between more serious games and TM's... a thoroughly enjoyable trip to a magical time and place. Enjoy!! *As always, trial it... games are not 'one size fits all' [yet this one is pretty versatile in that respect! : )
Abigail and the Kingdom of Fairs is a Time Management game with an interesting storyline. The game part begins when you start rebuilding a town's Magic Fair. There are attractions and shops, magic energy and wizards, monsters, and more! It's done in a very charming way, isn't scary, and each round is challenging - not too easy, not too hard. It starts easy and gets progressively harder. This is a good family and kids' game!
*based on playing the demo only* As a fan of TMG's games i found this to be a pleasant surprise, i can't say it is particularly challenging but that isn't to say that it isn't fun to play. As a lot of them the basic premise is to restore barron town squares in order to save the kingdom- there is no violence etc in this game and the graphics are very family friendly. To restore the square you need to build a variety of attractions- think circus tents etc, shops- such as sweets and tailors and so on, thus earning money and smiles. The building work is carried out by magicians- whom you hire in varying amounts and they use magic (clearly) which you buy by the bottle or get from warding off ogres. There is a guiding creature that doesn't hold your hand like lots of games as you can easily turn him off but as the levels progress he gets quieter anyway and leaves you to follow the goals on your own. The goals are the standard build 'x', earn 'X' amount of money, drive away 'x' ogres etc. You get two times- gold and silver, i found it easy to fill the gold but a couple of them were quite tight as it does involve a bit of thinking ahead- which is why i enjoyed the demo. I'm not certian i will buy the full game as yet- i'm working my way through titles to try and find ones that rival royal envoy, kingdom for the princess etc but it's a definate maybe! I'd say give it a go if you are looking for a nice way to lose an hour, i didn't regret trying it even though it didn't instantly appeal to me.
This game was quite fun and a little challenging. I really liked it!
Having played this game for an hour, it became more annoying as it went through the stages, the breakdowns became so annoying that it took any fun that there might have been away. I only played this game in desperation, as BFG seems to have gone HOG game blinkered. Games like the one I have just played makes me want to go out and find another online game store. So come on Big Fish remember that you have other people besides those looking for HOG games
I thought this game was ok as far as TM building games go. The graphics are well done and the theme was clever and well exectued. The levels took longer than those is similar games and it was annoying to have to constantly restock merchandise. Although I'm not a big fan of building games, this is one of the better ones I've tried. If I could I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 simply for its graphics and theme. Try it if you like TM building games because you'll probably enjoy it.
Beautiful graphics, fun storyline. Good challenge and replay. I do agree with some of the other reviewers thought that there were a few things that detracted from the game. Having to stock shops, lots of monsters, and just too many things to keep track of in the later levels took away some enjoyment. Sometimes "less is more". Although it does require strategy, it is quite clicky. I also believe this was the game that if you finished the last level without getting "blue" which equals "gold rating" in other games, it did not allow you to go back and try to get them later. Big negative in my opinion. Still . . . it was fun
