Review for game: Celtic Lore: Sidhe Hills

You always thought that the Fair Folk were just a myth: Leprechauns aren't real, there's no gold at the end of the rainbow, and there's nothing inside those heather-covered hills but heaps of dirt. But when your brother vanishes into thin air on Samhain night, you start to have your doubts. All signs point to a magical realm contained deep within the hills themselves! Discover the hidden world of the Aos Sidhe in Celtic Lore: Sidhe Hills!

Out of this world and into a magical realm to find your brother...

I loved this little known game... it was simply enchanting.... had fun and magical things to see and do, incorporated fantastic, original gameplay and artwork, music and wove a tale I just didn't want to end. WOW. I would LOVE to see MORE of this type of game... Encore, Encore!! Please, please!!! Bring them on... LOL a pure pleasure to play .... and I will do so again!!!! The only caveat I could think of is I changed my screen res to 800x768 because I don't like the black border on my widescreen, nor do I like straining me ole eyes to find things.... Fix that and you'll have a total winner, in my book. Well, you do have a winner even without that fix, actually, hahah. LOVED IT!!!!

nicely created hidden object game

beautiful, mystic, & cryptic ! So many different and pretty scenes. Doesn't need a strategy guide.

Entertaining

Great storyline, good grafic, I had lots of fun palying the game.

Fun Celtic setting

Just finished this game earlier today--perfect for St. Patrick's Day! :P There were fewer hidden object scenes in this game than is typical of the genre. Instead there were quite a few "find X of a certain type of object" scenes, and some fragmented object scenes as well. I enjoyed the variety of puzzles as well, and even though the difficulty level wasn't very high, they were still fun. The Celtic theme was what I liked most about this game. There are leprechauns and banshees and other mythical creatures and the art style has a soft, magical quality to it that really suits the theme. Not in the top tier level of games, but still pretty fun.

This game is Celtic fun

If you love all things Celtic, you will love this game. It's a puzzle game and HOS. The music is beautiful and the graphics are good. Great mini-games and was pulled in on in the first 5 minutes.

A good way to pass a couple of hours.

This is a pleasant, amusing game, where you meet fun characters in whimsical locals. It's definitely not as developed as other games, but it's workable and has really inventive mini-games (such as color by number, etc). It was a bit choppy, and without the hints I wouldn't have figured out what I was supposed to do (once a character tells you something, it's gone--so if you can't remember the clue you'll just have to get hints until you figure it out) but there were plenty of hints, and the ability to skip mini-games. The free trial probably took me just less than halfway to the end. Basically, if you're sick of hunting evil clowns or finding the "true identity" of Jack the Ripper, this game will be a nice change of pace for you.

Celtic Lore: Sidhe Hills

What a beautiful fantasy themed hidden object game. Little brother never listens does he? It seems the folk lore is true, Fairy Folk do exist and have taken your little brother Gavin because he just couldn't listen and stay put! Grandmother was always a witch, no really she is a good witch and you travel to her humble abode to whip up a seeing potion and find the Folk responsible for kidnapping Gavin (before your Folks find out) Each scene has a few items that need to be moved aside in order to find a listed item and some scenes have zoomed in areas to get a closer look for some items. There are potions to mix and items to fix or unblock along your journey. There are no voiceovers so you have to read the dialog boxes but there aren't so many that they overwhelm you. The graphics are really clear and beautifully crafted although I found some of the items too small to recognize. Very nice game that can be played in a casual or expert mode of difficulty, enjoy!

Fun little game, with no annoyances.

The storyline is simple and straightforward - enough to give structure to the minigames. You keep going forward, no annoying backtracking. The hidden object scenes are realistic, as you find things in a room instead of a big pile. You get to move objects and open doors looking for things, and sometimes you find them, sometimes you don't, which is again realistic. There is a variation in which you have to find similar thing using a magnifying glass and wait until they flash before clicking. The settings are beautiful, and the characters you meet along the trip are fun - a dragonette, a banshee, Tam-lin, a gremlin, a leprechaun, and then at the end Mebd, the fairy queen. The mood is good natured (the leprechaun says "someone as helpful as you should have no trouble getting what you want"). The puzzles are not very taxing but fun, and they take a bit of thinking. I only skipped one of them, and I think that if I had a bit more patience I would have gotten it too. The hint recharges early enough. A good game for all the family.

Fun, But Not What I Expected

Based on the reviews, I expected a fairly challenging game with well done art work and animation. I was pretty disappointed. The game operated very well, but the challenge level was pretty easy, I found the plot line boring, and the art and animation wasn't well-developed. Overall, it's an okay game, but there are better ones.

shows that different people like different games

Sorry to disagree with five star reviews, but this is too highly coloured and "in your face" for me. Several of my favourite games are fairy or fantasy themed but I prefer gentler (some may say childish?) artwork - Mirror Mysteries, Allora and the Broken Portal, Age of Oracles-Taras Journey, etc.
