A Witch, a Queen, a Blind Boy and You!

This is the fifth Echoes of the Past game I've played, yet it doesn't matter because I can't seem to remember the previous ones (except something about a witch#! Three were SE, and the last one was CE. The demo hour went by quickly; I was so engrossed, I was surprised when it ended. The main story is you have been transported to the witch's kingdom, and must find 5 amulets to open the portal home. A skeleton will open doors to 5 parts of the kingdom for you, in exchange for jeweled bracelets. There is also a bewitched queen, who used to be beautiful, and a blind boy whom the queen befriended before she became old and ugly. The CE has a bonus adventure, a Strategy Guide #not needed because you have an interactive map that shows areas you can solve), and 15 magic potions to find. You also get a journal and a hint button that quickly refills. The mini-puzzles are quite unique and hard. The HOS are varied -- find x number of objects, find a list, or return items you have previously earned to the scene. Not the same old boring HOS. While the main goal is to return home, it is not clear from the demo what part the old queen and the blind boy play, but it certainly makes me want to find out! This game is a buy. I like the graphics and the HOS are bright even on a large screen.

Two Thumbs Up For This One!

I really enjoyed this version of Echoes of the Past. The graphics were absolutely beautiful, background music very appropriate, VO's not bad, HO's very well done and fun to play and the mini games were challenging. I have all of this series games and will be purchasing this one as well for my collection. The only drawback I have is that I'm not so sure it's really worthy to be a CE due to the fact that there weren't very many achievements to earn and you only collect bottles of potions. These days, I like to see the CE games chalked full of all of the extras, including morphing objects, lots of achievements along with all of the other extras. This game also had so many adorable dolls and toy things that warm the heart! Great game!

ECHOES OF BRILLIANCE--5TH OF THE SERIES

We are battling the witch. She is a hard one to defeat as she is very powerful. Her magic cannot be denied and has endured over the years. I must say her looks have improved, however. Who doesn't love the EOP engaging music during gameplay! Certainly not a game that could be criticized for being too easy or too short. The artwork is busy, busy with multiple tasks going on at the same time. Boredom is simply not an option in any of the five series which do not have to be played in order. Recommend playing all five. They are a must-have for we gamers who constantly strive for quality gaming. In reality, the artists, developers and everyone who has worked on the Echoes Of the Past series possess the true MAGIC. A Great Long Weekend Game!

This is a great game. It's always tough to write a review after so many, but I really liked this game and so wrote about some of the nuances. Because there are so many optional assists it will appeal to many levels of gamers. As the games get more complex the music becomes more important as one hears it for quite awhile, especially if playing on hard or expert mode. I found this music quite good and not putting one on edge if working on a particularly difficult puzzle. The story line is appealing. One "succeeds" at just the right pace to want to keep going. You don't get bored with achieving things just to move to the next task. The graphics are good. Some going back and forth but within reason and purposeful. The diary is really a non issue. Doesn't assist and just restates what just occurred. As with many games KEEP CHECKING YOUR INVENTORY!!! Always a good clue. Very nicely done. Not so many achievements and morphing objects that one has to choose between getting involved in the story or "achieving!" Strongly recommend.

Definite buy

Am surprised by some of the lukewarm reviews. I really enjoy this game and love the mini games like the dolls house and tea party (not yet finished game). There is not enough variety in the music - I think only three or four tracks - and am now bored with them and will turn off. Hints are very quick and useful and I think the story line is good with 5 characters being redeemed back. Took me over an hour for the first part so I presume will be around 5 hours and then bonus to follow - so good length as well. Wish I had seen the 2 for 1 yesterday but missed it.. Bought it anyway.

Excellent game.

I have played each of the games in the series of Echos of the Past and I have found each to stand on their merit. This one Has excellent graphics. The voice overs are really good. The hidden objects scenes are not hard. The puzzles are interesting. Story line is very good. All in all the game may interest some, as for me It is a game I enjoyed Highly. It is worth the ce price but some may want to wait for the se to come out. That is a matter of preference to one. I do recommend this game.

BEST GAME IN A LOOOONNNNGGGG TIME!!

Kudos BF I think this is the best game you have put out in a looonnnggggg time!! I thought the length of the game was really good and I loved the puzzles (some a little easy) and there was many of them in this game. It was well developed and the graphics I thought was fantastic!! This is by far my favorite game......Thanks BF for a great game....

Impressed by the Quality of the Game

I haven't played any of the previous games in this series and didn't know what to expect. The artwork is impressive and I really enjoyed the opening movie sequence. The music looped pretty quickly and was often overly dramatic for the scene I was in, so I turned it off soon after the game started. A surprising innovation puts the inventory on the top of the screen instead of the bottom. Finally, I can go backwards without opening the inventory by mistake! It took awhile to get used to it being at the top, but it's a nice convenience. The mini games were challenging - I played at advanced level - and I was pleasantly surprised at having to work at them a bit. I really liked the demo and might try some of the previous games as well.

I'm So Sad It's Over :-(

BASED UPON COMPLETION OF THE FULL GAME AND BONUS LEVEL AT THE HARDEST LEVEL AVAILABLE. This game is incredible! I haven't been so overjoyed about a game in ages. Don't you all feel like we've been in a terrible lull lately? If you do, buy this game, buy the CE, play on the hardest level and get ready for some fun. It could be said that this game is a bit linear. But, there is no hand-holding and one thing that was truly wonderful is that the gameplay made perfect sense! When has THAT happened lately? Storyline means nothing to me. I pay for these games to be challenged by puzzles and games. But, I've never come across a game where the storyline served to unify all areas of the game and made the puzzles and games make sense and truly have a purpose. I learned with this game that a great storyline can add real texture to a game. The mini-games are wildly creative and innovative. No run-of-the-mill games here. It was the mini-games that made this game one of my all-time favorites. And, there are so many of them; they are all over the place. They are challenging enough to bring pause to an expert player, but not so challenging that an intermediate player or possibly even some newbies couldn't do them. And the best part about the mini-games - NO INSTRUCTIONS! I loved that. It's like, "Here's the puzzle. Figure it out." But, no worries to those who find that intimidating; the Strategy Guide is on your right where you can get instructions if you need them without necessarily seeing the solution. Also, those who have read my reviews before know I strongly dislike HOGs. I want only true Adventure Games, which are SO rare. But, in this game, the HOGs were so much fun I couldn't wait for the next one. There is the perfect number of them and they are spaced apart perfectly, too. Finally, the first thing I do when I launch a game is turn the music off. In this game, I let the music play. It was enjoyable. I kept it down low enough where I could hear it faintly i

What a great sequel!

What a beautiful, crisp, clear and colorful sequel. The voiceovers were excellent but the characters did not move their mouths, which was okay. The music was classical style and was very appropriate for the game. There was so much to do and so much to see that you had to focus on what you were doing and what was needed where. The hint button told you exactly were you needed to go outside the hos which varied between lists and finding a number of items and were interactive. There were three modes of play, regular, advanced and expert. There were also a number of achievements and collectibles, but not sure what the collectibles were except the 15 bottles to open the spellbook. The extras included the strategy guide, the bonus adventure, concept art and mini games. There was no way of finding out how long as I only played the demo which showed general tips and chapter 1. You are in current day and walk into a book shop that is displaying a book of spells. Another girl comes in and she is wearing an amulet that matches the design on the book and suddenly you are drawn back into the past. The young girl is enveloped in a black mist and becomes a dark witch and she has shut the portal to get home. You have to find the amulets to place on the book to reopen the portal. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and recommend this game.
