You wake up in the lab, and you have been kidnapped by the crazy cephalopod Dr. Blackmore. He plans to take revenge on all who have wronged him. Your job is to set these people free. One is in the Lab, but you can't help him until you help the ones in Chicago, Pompeii, Alaska and Chernobyl. Display options are custom cursor, full screen, widescreen and game options are Casual, Advanced and Hard (Skip and hint slow, no sparkles, HO click penalty#. You have notes which work as your journal, a new feature which is a portable lab. When you find items during the game, you can use the portable lab to make a new inventory item. I was having so much fun I don't remember seeing a map of any kind - didn't need it. Strategy guide in the demo has two chapters - the Lab and Chicago #23 pages). Mini games are different and unique - good job! Hidden object areas are also different. Some are just silhouettes, some go like this - Use the silhouette to find the screwdriver, use the screwdriver to unscrew a bolt. Use the silhouette to find the 2nd half of the scissors, place the scissor parts together with the bolt and the screwdriver, and that is just the beginning. Oh ENOUGH of this game review - I gotta get back to the game!
Played nearly 40 minutes of the game, casual - ERS - 3 modes, casual, advanced, hard (time penalty in hard for a misclick) - Integrated SG, only shows 2 chapters - Voice overs - Electronic notebook - Portable laboratory - You interact and meet very cute (or less) animals - Hint, only tells you there's nothing to do outside H0 - H0, very interesting, silhouettes, you have to complete the objects for some of them and then use them to get others, very interactive - Skip button - Mini games not too difficult up to now - Very good graphics You have quite a lot of people (in different locations of the globe) to rescue from the tentacles of so bad Dr Blackmore. Of course I can't miss buying this third edition !!! And I so loved the idea of a motorcycle Club named "Dark Cherubs" !!!
I was hoping that that we would meet up once more with the insane Dr. Blackmore and to my delight, he has returned; crazier than ever and up to his evil plan to destroy the wolrd. This game had me within the first 10 minutes and after having played the first chapter which incidently took me 45 minutes, I immediately went off to purchase and I plan to save this gem for tonight. This time our story begins in a mysterious lab where I have just woken up to find that not only am I prisoner of the evil Dr. Blackmore, but he has captured several hostages including my fiance, Tim. I am now forced to play a game of cat and mouse with Blackmore and in order to rescue Tim, I must first locate and free the other hostages. The Graphics are high quality which is expected from these developers and there is brilliant animation cut scenes along with voice-overs and sound effects. Once the really cute Kangaroo popped up on my screen, I knew I was in for a treat. The music is soft and haunting and reminds me of the musical score to a french film I saw years ago. There are three play modes to choose from and as always, I began my journey with advance rather than hard-core. This game is a HOPA, with great puzzles to solve and interesting HO scenes to play. HO scenes come with silohettes of items you need to find. There is alot of interaction whereby you need to use each item on another in order to recieve you inventory tool. I loved them; it is great to see that devlopers are makeing HO scenes more interesting to play. I came across two mini-games that were not very difficult but has a good degree of fun factor. What I really loved were the interesting animals that crossed my path and the adventure that I found myself playing. This game gets 5 stars from me along with a high recommendation. I am anxious to continue and only hope that this is not the end of what was an excellant series from Haunted Halls.
I played about 45 minutes into the demo before I purchased the game. Would have done it after 15 minutes but I just didn't want to stop playing. What a fun game this i!. Love the artwork and fantastic cutscenes - Dr. B. is my kind of villian, lol. Has a good hint system and recharges quickly. Love the animals - what's not to love in a doey-eyed kangaroo and can I get some of those insta-grow seeds, please? The music and background sounds are complements to the game, not just noise. There is no map but, as far as I can tell, one isn't needed. The SG seems adequate but I haven't needed it either, so far. There is plenty to do. Besides exploring around for whatever you find, there's also the interactive HOS's. It's puzzles within puzzles and so much fun to play. Also, great to be able to open doors with puzzles instead of all those darn keys. I 100% recommend you get this. Enough now. I've got to get back to my game :)
This has to be the BEST HO game I have played in a long time!! The graphics are amazing, the story line is good, voice overs are excellent and the monsters perfect. I love the different kinds of HOs; some lists and some outlines of items you need to use to continue. You have a portable lab in which you create items you need along the way, and each chapter requires a CD to open it. The puzzles so far have been different and fun. It looks like it will be a fairly long game as well. These developers are, in my opinion, the best on the scene today....well done!
Lots of interesting things to do and see in order to beat that creepy tentacled Dr. Blackmore at his morbid game. The HOS, as others said, are very different and fun. Graphics are great, as is the storyline. The animals add another entertaining dimension. Really cool puzzles and ways to progress the game. Doing several steps to acquire or do something is a lot of fun. As always, ERS sets the bar quite high for other developers to follow. A great followup to Green Hills Sanitarium.
When Dr Blackmore shows up in a game I know it will be bad...erm I mean GOOD! He's bad. With only 26 minutes played I had to buy it. The HOS was different, having to combine multiple items, to make the object was interesting. A kangaroo......that is new & cute. Having to help others to get ahead is heartwarming & a bit unusual. To move forward in this game you need to be the opposite of Blackmore. Think WWBD* & do the opposite. :) Enjoy!!! *What Would Blackmore Do
I found this game to be a challenge, full of excitement and graphics are great, story is great, you will not want to stop playing this game, I have the others and this will be another one of my collections, keep it up you are one of my favorite Devs... great job
Ers games are absolutley awesome. Everything works perfectly without any glitches at all, I have finished the demo so cannot comment on the rest of the game. The storyline is a continuation of the series as the name suggests and as always there are different elements in the game which again makes the game a 'Can't put down' type of game, I love it and hope you all do too.
This one is just as good as the others. I even like that it has a hint button but only tells you that there is nothing to do in that area. The graphics are great and the music is not bad. The HOS are few and different but fun. Not hard. The puzzles can be difficult at times. Has a good flow and not running all over the place too bad.
