Usually I do not buy a game without playing the full demo version. However, as there was the weekend sales on I have bought it without playing the demo. And I do not regret it all. On the contrary. I seems that a lot of reviews are based on the demo version only. I personally find it at times misleading to read reviews of gamers that have not completed the game at all as it can be quite misleading to the overall game play, quality and fun factor or difficulty level. The graphics are in general very well drawn, the quality could have been at times a bit better (for that I would give a 4-star) However, I appreciated the attention to details, especially in the HOS. And the HOS I thoroughly enjoyed (which is rare); they are a good combination of slightly interactive HOS and silhouetted ones that blend smoothly in the game. And the mini games - there are quite a lot - I truly enjoyed - they were not overly difficult, however also with the puzzles it is a good mix of easy to a bit more challenging puzzles (if you have played the whole game I would like to add!!). The story-line kept my interest till the end and I was not bored once. Also the characters were lovely drawn (well, the bad guy dwarf really looked all too familiar from another game.... hmmm ... but I loved his voice!!) - good voice-overs and voice-acting for that (in other games they can be utterly amateurish) - background music decent and definitely not disturbing. And yes.... the bonus chapter: it took me almost 1.45h to finish it (and usually the bonus chapters in other games that were released recently took me a mediocre 45-60 min.) - and I skipped only one puzzle that almost drove me nuts as I was not able to finish it. The length and also continous good story-line is simply worth a 5-star. And the HOS and puzzles were of the same quality until the end of the game and throughly enjoyable. Some players might not agree with me, but this developer really made a big time effort of offering a true Collector's Edition. I absolut
I enjoyed this game a lot. I was a part of the "survey" team many moons ago, and I've been looking for it since then. When I saw it on Tomorrow's Game Today, I grabbed it! It was a real bonus that this weekend there is a 2-for-1 sale on! * The storyline is very good. * The game play is very good. * The puzzles are the best blend of search-and-find, deduction and intuition I've seen for a long time in these 'discount' games. * I liked the difficulty level a lot. Some things are easy, others not so much, and still others make you stop and think before moving on - and it's all nicely interwoven to make it challenging but NOT frustrating. That's because the answers are intuitive, that is, they make sense. The game is not made challenging through illogical and nonsensical leaps; but rather cleverness and creativity. The sound was good. The graphics good. I did not encounter any glitches at all. ASIDE: I think it is a real credit to BigFish and the other developers that people generally don't bother to note a lack of glitches anymore. It's just expected. KUDOS guys. I liked it. I recommend it.
This game is imaginative and obviously a lot of thought and work has gone into it. Opened it widescreen on my laptop...always a good beginning... IHOG {interactive Hidden Object Game} Achievements, Wallpapers etc can be seen before you start the game...another plus Collectibles, there are 3..puzzle parts, Owls and Scrolls...Scrolls tell the story as you progress through the game...Owls...keep your eyes open for these critters as they are pretty sneaky. 3 modes of play...you can change 'Difficulty' settings during the game...another plus Loved the mini mini-games inside the HOS. A variety of HOS...lists, silhouettes etc I had no technical difficulties, game ran smoothly Nothing really new about the story, you have to rescue the girl and get rid of the Dark Lord who has help from a 'Smoggle' and our little Dwarf friend What makes this game stand out is the innovative puzzles, beautiful clear graphics and different HOS. The Bonus game was about 3 hours {I'm quite a slow player I love to look at everything and enjoy each scene.} I highly recommend this game
Boy so far this looks like a great game. The storyline is good and thru out the game tells you more. The graphics are crisp and clear. Has voice over and the music is nice to listen to. The HOS are interactive and to me pretty easy. The puzzles are good with many seen the same type in other games but still fun. You get achievements for not using the hint button and doing things during the game. There are owls to find during the game as morphine. Has a map that will take you to the area you need to go. I did not use the hint button. Did not need it. Flow of the game is not hard to figure out. They did there homework on this game. Just a great all around excellent game to play. With the 2 for 1 this weekend it will be a buy for me.
Based on the demo which (for me) only lasted 45 minutes, this has just about everything you could want in a fantasy CE. Collectibles: * Jigsaw pieces (though I haven't found any yet) - 20 * Bestiary scrolls * Fresco parts (not yet found) * 34 hidden owls Achievements, which are worth reading first if you want them all, eg solve a puzzle without reading instructions. Interactive map which shows (in casual) where tasks are and whether you have found your owl. This scrolls rather than having arrows to other areas, which I liked. HOSs are all (so far) pick up -> use -> find another object -> use etc Storyline is familiar, you are summoned by The League of Light to defeat the Dark Lord. Some scary moments which make you jump. An evil (?) dwarf who looks a little like SG and a daughter to rescue. Graphics are nice and cut scenes, giving back story, are sepia drawings. VOs good and well characterised. It is a very straightforward game with no need for hints and skips, so far, and that's where it falls down a little for me. I only used the map to be lazy. Objects found are used fairly quickly, but this moves the game on. However, it is 'right up my street' and with the weekend offer on, will be buying it today.
What an entertaining game! I love hidden collectables and in this game you must find hidden owls in each scene and at first they are obvious but as the game progresses they are really well hidden! There are achievements as well and you will want to check the achievement section occasionally to answer simple questions about the game. The HOS are progressive finds which I am not too fond of but because there is so much to do and a large selection of puzzles in the game I didn't mind. There is an interactive map for traveling which also shows areas of interest and you definitely need the map because there are many locations or rooms to visit. This is a top notch game with crisp mid-evil graphics and intense artwork making this game a winner in my book!
WHAT A MAGNIFICENT COLABORATION!!!!THE COLOR IS AMAZING THE VOICES ARESO REAL THE SPARKLE SCENES ARE SO MUCH FUN TRI-HORN MUSIC IS DREAMY BRIGHT CRYSTAL CLEAR SCENES A PURE JOY TO PLAY SUPERIOR BONUS CHAPTER!!!! MORE MORE MORE PLEASE
This game has it all. Wonderful narration with VOS, and blurbage. I'm pretty much 3/4 through this collector's edition and having the time of my life. Love the graphics, interactive HO's --interactive and silhouettes--puzzles very interesting and fun, not too easy, not too hard. Achievements, collection of owls, scrolls, map, journal, guide. A nice variety of things to do, and this game flows very well. That's what I like in a game. The developers pretty much thought of everything. The storyline is intriguing but pretty much the norm, good vs. evil. However, I'm giving it a 5-star rating. With that in mind, I highly recommend this game.
I played only 15 minutes had to give my review, loved the snow scenery and awesome graphics! Wish BF made more games like this, like being in a mini movie especially when you are riding on the horse! I'm going to buy it! The gargoyles looked so real and scary! The HO are great, look so real! I feel like a kid on Xmas morn playing this game, going to take advantage of the sale 2 for 1! Enjoy and bundle up it snowing! :)
While the sheer volume of these new games grow as the graphics get better...I find myelf wondering if we are being forced to buy larger computers "yearly" to keep up. This held my interest because it made "sense" more than the new schizophrenic ones running here and there and having no idea wehre you are going or if you have missed something. At least hope sprang eternal as you could at least find some objects closeby that we could use.I also loved it because I felt like I actually got my monies worth...the way I had to play it, with my time schedule..it just kept going and going...even the bonus chapter was very good. I highly, highly recommend this game if you do not want a schizophrenic rush when playing and getting no where.
