compelling exotic adventure

Pretty much a straight hidden object game with some cool tools to use and puzzles to break upt the HOS. Beautiful exotic location and suspensful, interesting story.Nice break from occult horror games. I liked it that all the objects could have been found at the scenes--nothing too out of place or time.

insulting player=not cool

Run, don't walk from this one. Five minutes in & I was seriously P.O'd. Shame on Nat. Geo! This had the possibilities of alot of fun. However, when playing in relaxed mode & clicked 3 times (only!) I got a nasty pop-up saying "Clicking on multiple places does NOT help me!" Well same to you! What a rude comment. Made me uninterested in bothering further. Hint button useless. Would have given it a zero star if possible. There's lots of games out there that have this one beaten hands-down. YUCK!

Interesting but a bit flawed - A guy's review

*review based on completing the full game in casual mode* Well, at the beginning I was actually surprised by this game. It seemed better than I first expected, and it had some fun elements in it. But it kinda fell apart later on in the game. The good: Nice scenery, upgradable inventory, somewhat interesting story and loved the photographer mini game (or adding to the HO scenes). You get some education from this game, as I would expect from NatGeo. The bad: Repeating scenes, few puzzles and some things just make no sense. You open a secret passage to get somewhere, come back to the scene, open another secret passage leading another way (supposedly) and get back to the same scenes you have been before??? What gives??? Also time management is an issue. You start in daylight, then it gets darker, then lighter, then darker again, then lighter... all during the same "night".... crazy. It could have been more thought through IMO. I think NatGeo has the capability to create some really great edutaining games, so I hope they will put some more time and thought into future game projects, as we all know they do with their programming. I do not think the game is worth full price and will therefore not recommend it, but if you catch it on a Daily Deal you can at least try it out. It is not particularly lengthy and is more a HOG than anything else. For the guys: You play as a female character on a rescue mission for a female friend. But it is not a "girly" story and should not cause nervous twitches in any guy. TJ

Nat Geo - City of Z

First off I have to say is that this is a National Geographic HOG so you know the graphics are great. Just like in a photo. The game is all HOG which is the true HOG not an adventure game that is classified as a HOG, so if you are a purist of the Hidden Object idea then this is for you. Fun to go through. It is easy and there are helps along the way. You can get an outline of the object you are searching for, which is helpful in some cases as some objects are not readily known or they are put on their oblique so they are hard to spot. A few mystery games that are not difficult either. Overall this is just a fun game that will give you a breather from running from room to room and then back again like a chicken with his head cut off to find the end. Quite refreshing in MHO. Great game - One you should get.

Nicely done hidden object game

This is one of my favorite HO games. The storyline is pretty interesting as HO game storylines go, and the graphics and scenery are superb. You can click on each object to see an outline, which is great as some of the objects are rather small and would be hard to identify otherwise. The only trouble I've had was that when I was nearly at the end of the game (for the second time), the game crashed and I had to start all over again at the first scene. However, I don't know if the problem was a bug in the game or a glitch in my computer, and it doesn't really matter. It's a good game, and I don't mind playing it again!

Strictly HO

The graphics are good quality, but this is strictly an HO game, very few mini games. Played in the casual mode. Hint is a little slow on the recharge, but does show a picture of the object you're trying to find. Can't skip the tutorial , but is a good idea to go through it, so you know to use the camera for some of the hidden objects you are trying to find. Game was a little slow for me, but is good for beginners.

Very Disappointed

I'm a big fan of National Geographic. And the story of the lost city of Z has always been a favorite so I was looking forward to this game. I thought with a name like Nat Geo it would be a quality game with great visuals and puzzles. What a disappointment. The storyline is the hackneyed "My _______ is missing and I have to find them." The visuals are just awful, fuzzy and indistinct. The artwork is poor. There are plain old HOGs and a few puzzles. Plus we're stuck in the jungle repeating the same scenes for an hour. What a waste.
