A shadow kinaps young women...........

Played 30 minutes, easy - 3 modes, easy, normal, hard - Integrated SG which only shows one chapter, it doesn't mention a bonus chapter in the extras - Voice overs - Notebook - Map, you can jump from one place to another and it shows areas of interest - Beautiful animated characters - Hint refills quickly in easy mode - H0, you interact, you sometimes have to perform an action to access them - Good mini games - Skip button which fills very quickly - Gorgeous graphics - Good music Young women are being kidnapped by a shadow. You're the detective and investigate with the help of a little boy. This looks like a very good game, a straight buy for me.

Adventurer's Delight

Plot: Girls are being abducted, and you, the detective, have been hired to investigate. As always, I don't like to give the plot away, as it is part of the intrigue. Options: Sound FX, Music, Voice, Full Screen, Custom Cursor, Mute all Sounds. Extras: Strategy Guide, Bonus Mystery: Uncover the truth about abductions from 100 years ago, Wallpaper and Music. Other Games by these developers: The Missing: A Search and Rescue Mystery Strange Cases: The Lighthouse Mystery Strange Cases: The Secrets of Gray Mist Lake Strange Cases: The Tent Card Mystery Difficulty Levels: (I always play in Easy to review) Easy ? Skip and hint recharge in about 30 seconds and there are sparkles in active zones. Normal ? Skip and hint recharge in a longer period of time and there are no sparkles. Hard ? No Skips, Hints or Sparkles. Hidden Objects: Fairly easy to see, few and far between, some items in red require a bit more effort to find. Puzzles: Many more puzzles than hidden object scenes ? no too hard so far. Conversations & Walking: People who like pure HO will not take to this game. It requires that you speak to many people, and there is quite a bit of walking around. Adventure gamers on the other hand, this is similar to some of the new Sherlock Holmes games. Map: There is a map which shows where you are and areas of interest, but it will not allow you to navigate and it takes a bit of effort to understand. Strategy Guide: 1 Chapter but it seems like it will be a fairly long game. Overall, the game seems well done to me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time.

Bum Rap

First, I never do reviews, or buy games because of them, but I think this one got a bum rap. I played the demo and thought it was a good game. There are a lot of HO scenes in it but you usually get something you need from them. The story line is very good. The hint recharges quickly. Always try the demos and make up your own mind if you like the game or not.... just saying :-)

Great Game!

I enjoyed this game and as well the bonus chapter. Storyline was on par with other HOGS. The HOG scenes were well done and I was stumped by the label on some items to search for, no problem I managed. Thanks for no extra hints in the HOG scenes for it forced me to use the muscle between my ears. Not a particularly lengthy game, challenge well easier than some. I read the submitted negative reviews so I chose to play no matter and I am glad I did. Not all HOG's are equal nor should they be -- recommend you decide for yourself -- happy gaming.

LOVE EXPERIMENTS!!!

Storyline - You play a detective called in to solve a string of kidnappings of young women. Animation/VOS - Excellent Hint - Recharges quickly and acts as a guide. Map - Does transport to areas of interest. I used the hint instead. Journal - Lists information, photos and clues. IHOS - Repeated, the usual small to large objects, a bit crowded. Misclick Penalty - None Puzzles/Mini-Games - Found some to be unusual but I did manage to solve a few. Skip - Moderate recharge. Inventory - Items used quickly in other locations. Music - Soft, not intrusive. Bonus Chapter - Same qualities as above but it was great to go back in time 100 years when the first abductions started and why. A note to puzzle lovers - this may not be a game for you. Though I did not count the IHOS, they outnumber the puzzles/mini-games but you may still be interested in the adventure. Give it a try and happy gaming!!!

My 2 cents on the Demo Only

I thought the demo suggests a fairly interesting game. The reviews, (the three poor reviews so far), are unwarranted. As an aside it annoys me when people review a game after a 1/2 hour demo. Play the game. Then tell me what you think. Despite my black kettle or stones of my own house, based on the demo I think it is going to be an enjoyable adventure, HOG, game with an interesting story. One criticism of the story line (unless there is a twist) is that the secret of what is going on in whitehall is revealed too early. But of all the HOG/adeventure demos played over the past few weeks this one interests me enough to buy the game.

MY REVIEW CANCELS YOURS

Ordinarily, I would have given this game only a 4 star, but there were so many bad reviews that I think are undeserved that I decided to up it to a 5 star to counter balance all the negatives. I played the whole game, plus the bonus chapter, on casual mode. This game has a lot going for it and includes some of my favorite things that should be in a CE, like an interactive map and a built-in strategy guide. The map in particular makes this game a lot easier to play. The HOS varied in difficulty; some were fairly easy, while others were harder. I did get caught with some of the names of the items that made no sense to me. A "shawl" ended up looking like a folded handkerchief to me and I never did figure out what a "hammer opener" was, but that's what hints are for. The puzzles also varied in difficulty, but then I am good at some kinds of puzzles but not at others. Thankfully, there is a skip button and in the casual mode it charged up quick enough to keep my level of frustration down. The game was fairly intuitive and I only had to use the strategy guide a couple of times, both times because I couldn't figure out how to work a puzzle. Some of the puzzles could have used better instructions. I never used the hint button to find out where to go next; I just went right to the map and didn't try to remember where things were that needed to be done. I don't have a lot of patience and, for me, games need to be fun. That's why I almost always play the casual mode. If a game frustrates me, either by too much back and forth with no easy way to cut to the chase, or too many puzzles that do not require any thought, just clicking at random till your mind goes numb, then no matter how great the graphics, or the storyline or anything else about the game, I will not rate it very high. This game was very enjoyable for me.

OK, I'll be the contrarian

Well drawn. Atmospheric music (and I usually turn it off). The game play is fluid and fairly linear. There are more repeat HOS than I usually like but they are not junk piles, there's a reasonable number of items to find, and they're mostly logically placed. 1 demerit for not keeping items found previously out of the scene during subsequent re-visits. Bottom line: This is a nice-looking, uncomplicated game with a fast, helpful Hint system and a teleporting map. This is definitely my kind of game.

Very Good on a Dismal Day!

This is the first HOS/adventure game I've played in a long time that is moody & NOT raining. I was getting moldy. This is very much a HOG. Just about every other task is a HOS. If you don't like them, don't play this game. The graphics are good, if a touch dark. Hey, moody right? If music is set low it sets the tone subconciously. If it's high it yells at you. The characters look like they are made of polyclay. Thought we'd gone by that. Is the only hitch in the game for me. There is much better 3D animation out there. Hints and strategy guide are good. Play the demo, see for yourself.

Whitehall??

I love this game! I just finished playing my hour & it seemed like I'd only been playing for a few minutes. It was over way too soon. I thought the graphics were excellent, the HO's were very clear & it seemed like the people's mouths were coordinated with the words! I would definitely buy this game!
