This game does everything right. There is an interactive map that works like a charm. The hint button actually tells you where you need to go next and what you need to do there. Therefore, I never had to use the built-in strategy guide, which is also a big plus. The puzzles and HOS were great. Often there was at least one HO that was a little difficult to find. I actually had to use the hint button a couple of times. The puzzles were varied and interesting. I skipped some out of impatience. I guess I could have used the strategy guide to figure out how to solve them, but I didn't need to do that bad enough to take time out to go to the strategy guide. I loved every minute of this game. I highly recommend it.
There is a wedding to take place. A flock of ravens comes with an evil Raven Queen and not only stops the wedding but takes over the entire town, turning the soliders and townspeople to stone. As the story progresses the Raven Queen reveals that the Prince (who was to be the groom in the wedding she ruined) had promised to marry her. She has come to collect her groom. The soundtrack is very well done. The artwork is superb. The voice overs leave a lot to be desired with the supposed "good" bride sounding like a whining, nagging harpie and a magic mirror sounding like the bumbling Dr. Smith from the Space Family Robinson. But the rest of the game is so well done that did not detract me. The hidden object games are junkpiles with lists, some interactivity. The mini games are fun, not the most challening, but a lot of fun. To assist you there is the Magic Mirror and an interactive map. This is a cute little game, a little less challening than some might like, that I only stopped playing long enough to buy.
an excellent game for all the family. good graphic content . nice long story line.
I happen to like more adventure than HOS. Lots going on in the game. The HOS are not hard and the puzzles are fine. Good music and graphics. Has voice over. Hind button works very good and the skip button is fast. Has a map that will move you from one area to another. Lots to do in this game.
This game is more a HOPA than a HOG. There are 3 game modes, and no sparkles in the Advanced mode. - The graphics are really beautiful, with lots of colors! - The HOS are clear and not cluttered. - The puzzles are on the easy side, but interesting. - There is no journal, but an interactive map. The problem though, is that there are many locations, a lot of to and fro, and I often had forgotten where an object was. On the other hand the hint system is very good since it tells you what to do next. - The characters are interesting and the dialogs not too long. I needed about 3 1/2 hours without skipping, but as I said before using the hint system quite a number of times... I still recommend this great "Elephant" game!
It was basically watching a fairy tale... It was like a Disney movie, only much better. The storytelling falls within the conventions of the fairy tale, with the idea of a quest to win the prince or princess, with magic, with strange helpful strangers to whom one must do nice things in order to get help (the idea that "kindness pays" which underpins most such tales. And the gorgeous settings! One wants to open doors to see what next gorgeous view is next.... and that's why I am sad when it ends... The level of challenge is OK... While there are games that I play for the challenge, for this one, I just wanted to the story to go on, so if I did not solve it in two tries I pushed the skip button with no guilt. Other gamers might no agree... To each his own.
Beautiful scenes, good interactive HOS and good puzzles. Good map and journal although i didn't use either much. Just a pleasure to play!
SUMMARY: This is one of the most fascinating games I?ve tried. I almost want the CE and the SE because they are just superb in almost all ways. STORY: You play Thumbelina? Can you solve the mystery of your groom?s past and save you Floral Kingdom from the evil witch on your wedding day? Is your groom as evil as portrayed in the cutscenes? Will you end up with him? Who is this Raven Queen? Others have gone into details, so I?ll leave it at this. Questions and questions to answer. SIGNATURES: Outrageously gorgeous scenery ? you want to linger in the scenes just to absorb it. Wonderful animations ? you can get more animation by moving your cursor around the scene. You want to delay moving on to the next scene until you?ve exhausted your eyes. Just like a Disney movie. Realistic sounds ? I could feel the heat from the crackling fire. Voice overs range from terrific to slightly exaggerated. Has one of the top 10 ?attention to details? award in my opinion. Puzzles are a lot of fun and unique. If there? one complaint, it?s that you have to find all pieces of objects before you can use them (like both eyes). CE OR SE: These and the bonus game would help you determine which edition to buy. In the CE, collect 50 butterflies. There are a lot of achievements and you need to review them before playing so you can figure out how to get all of them (which earns you another achievement). Like, one achievement is interacting incorrectly 50 times and taking a full 10 minutes for at least one HOG. BASICS WHAT ELSE YOU GET: 4 volume controls, gamma control, widescreen capability, special effects choice, 3 game modes and an interactive map. Oh, and a very helpful magic mirror.
An enchanting game that was well worth the original CE Price. Thumbalina's wedding is rudely interrupted when her groom to be is kidnapped by the an extremely embittered Raven Queen. Thumbalina embarks on an adventure to save her prince charming with Stunning graphics, voice-overs, a map that will allow you to jump and great HOPA game play. The CE had many achievements and 50 butterflies to collect throughout the game (alhough I am not sure if this is available in the SE version). I recommend that the CE version be considered if you want to full closure during the bonus game. Without giving anything away, the bonus does offer you a continuation of the story. These developers have always managed to produce entertaining games and this one is no exception.
There really is no other option but to review this game full 5* Graphics are beautiful and for me this game is the first one which I played with sounds on due to thoughtfully included sounds all around the game. Some bonus points are added also from the cute aspects in the game, like animals and beautiful nature, as this proves that a good game does not have to be dark skary and black. As the game itself had excellent challenge level in Expert mode, large enough play area to investigate, a lot of puzzles and hidden object games, interactive map for moving between the locations I really cannot ask for more - expect but more games like this! I would categorize this game more on the adventure than hidden object due to number of puzzles and problem solving cases compared to pure hidden object scenes. All games regardless of their type were beautifully designed, imaginative and sometimes so challenging that you had to stop and plan moves ahead. Great! This game had so many details to look at that for me I easily spent over 10 hours just trying to figure out all potential moves in the game - and I never used any walkthrough. No hints at all in Expert mode is sure very welcome mode!
