I have no adequate words to describe how thoroughly I enjoyed this game. I have it on every computer I own and have played it more times than I can count. It is, at times, a strategy game, at times a time management game and yet at other times, a puzzler. The game follows one of two characters as he/she tries to rebuild the railroad that his/her father built #in the prequels#. It is an exercise in managing your resources and protecting your town, all with a sensible plot. The only con is that there will be no more sequels, as Sandlot Games is now Digital Chocolate, a company focused on <groan> social media games.
I personally think that the westward series is the best! So glad that the bugs have been worked out, now I find myself going back to play this one over and over.
I have this one and I love it. Keeps you going, and love the mini games. You would missing it a lot if you don't at least try the game. I own all 4 Westward games, and still play them.
This is no two-hour game. It goes on and on. There are major quests, minor quests, optional quests, routine maintenance, and secret quests to keep you busy for a week or more. The level of challenge rises pretty steadily throughout the game, with a few challenges excitingly tough. One warning: REMEMBER TO SAVE! This game does not automatically save progress, which many of us are used to now. The wild west flavor is fun and adds flavor to the game. Some of the NPC quotes are quite funny. Definitely worth the price, hands down. I highly recommend it.
Westward IV was one of the best strategy games I've played in a long time.
This is my first Westward game and I have to say I'm really impressed. Be careful though your can lose hours at a time playing this game!! You always have choice too as if you don't want to take on the next mission right away there are quite a few mini missions to complete in the home town. There were a couple things that were not easy to figure out - such as how to hire bounty hunters in the main town but was not essential anyway. This game is good value for money - hours of game play - you definately don't feel short changed.
This game brought me many hours of enjoyable play time. I'm always so disappointment when I can only get a few hours on a game, and then it's not worth re-playing. This one has so many missions and goals that you can get a lot of mileage out of it.
I bought this game long time ago, but still I come back to it. It's interesting and challenging. Love the mini-games. It's like a never-ending story. Time consuming, but definitely worth it!
This game is so much fun! I've played it twice and am in the middle of playing it again. It's challenging and no two games are the same. I love the challenges within the game as well as the hidden levels and rewards. Such a great world creation. the visuals and sounds leave a little something to be desired but overall great game!
I loved the storyline to this game. This was my first Westward game and I am enjoying it. It's not one that you can have finished in a few hours over a weekend (or through one very loooong night), this is one that you can return to again and again. I'm still not done with all the fun quests. Which is to say, there are a lot of extra quests and trophies, so I spend a lot of time with the Blog Walkthrough open in my browser and I switch to it to make sure I don't miss any hidden missions. Definitely a fun strategy game for those that like to use problem solving. Besides, it's about a steam train railroad. What's not to like?
